ton died at home on May 17 , She
was 74.
She was born in Monticello,
Utah, on December 21, 1921 to
Jbonathan and Elizabeth Gale
She was married 4’7 years ago in
Reno, Nevada, to Verald Oakley,
She lived in Oregon and Califor-
nia before moving to the Puget
Sound area 30 years ago. She had
lived in Shelton for 21 years.
Mrs. Oakley was a homemaker
who enjoyed quilting, baking,
cooking and gardening.
She was a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-
day Saints. She had been a foster
parent for 22 years and was hon-
ored in 1991 as the Mason County
Foster Parent of the Year.
She was preceded in death by
her son, Ron Lee Hiatt.
Survivors include her husband,
Verald Oakley of Shelton; her
daughters, Connie Wiltman of
Shelton, Sharon Saselli of Dan-
ville and Pamela Kick of Shelton;
her sister, Elizabeth Lilly of Sac—
ramento, California; 12 grandchil~
dren, numerous greatvg'randchil-
dren and many foster children.
Graveside services were held
May 20 at Shelton Memorial

Nevada “Verlin” Oakley, 74, a res-
ident of Shelton for 21 years, died of
cancer-related causes Friday, May
17, 1996, at her home.
She was born Dec. 21, 1921, in
Monticello, Utah, to Jhonathan and
Elizabeth Gale.
She married Verald Oakley in
Reno, Nev. The couple lived in Utah1
California and Oregon before mov-
ing to the Puget Sound area 30
ars ago.
She was a homemaker
Mrs, Oakley was a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-
day Saints, Shelton.
She enjoyed being a foster parent
for more than 22 and was hon-
ored as Mason County Foster Par-
ent of the Year in 1991. Other inter
ests were quilting, baking, cooking
and gardening,
Sumving Mrs. Oakle is her hus-
band, Vera d, Shelton; ree daugh-
ters, Connie Wiltman, Shelton,
Sharon Saselli, Danville and
Pamela Kick, Shelton; a sister, Eliz-
abeth Lilly, Sacramento, Calif., 12
grandchildren, numerous great-
grandchildren; and many foster
children. She was preceded in death
by a son, Ronald L. Hiatt, in 1978.
A graveside service for Mrs, Oak-
ley will begin at 11 am, Monday,
May 20, in Shelton Memorial Park,
Shelton.
