wrestling season is underway.
The Vikings return four state
placers from last year’s team as
well as six other state partici-
pants whom look to improve
on their seventh place team fin-
ish in last year’s 4A state team
championship.
Led by returning state cham-
pion senior Malachi Lawrence
ranked first at 182 lbs. and
fifth place finisher senior Jacob
Bennett ranked first at 106 lbs.

Baking Christmas cookies as
a family is a yearly tradition for
most and students at Highland
Elementary School wanted to
make sure that families need-
ing help from the Lake Stevens
Food Bank will be able to enjoy
this tradition as well.
The 26 students who are
members of the K-Kids group,
sponsored by the Lake Stevens
Kiwanis Club and led by Sonja
Abels and Jackie Muir, gath-
ered together before school on
Thursday, December 14 to put
together packages to give to
the Food Bank.
The students had been gath-
ering donations of cookie mix,
sprinkles, frosting mix, cookie
cutters and hot cocoa mix to
put in each package and they
tied each package with ribbon,
creating a beautiful and unex-
pected gift for families in need.
“It’s really fun to help the
community,” 10-year-old Aly-
via said. “It’s fun to have them
be able to make cookies like
every family.”
