Helen Palmer Helen Di Palmer died at home in Shelton on Satur- day, January 17. She was 82 and had lived in Shelton for 60 years. M r s i P a 1 m e r was born on Febru- ary 26, 1926 in S u n n y side to Hubbard and Flor- ence (Da- v i d s o n ) Duncan. M r s . P a 1 m e r attended Sunnyside High School. She was the “Salutatorian” for her graduating class in 1944‘ After high school she attended Washington State University, graduating in 1949 with a bachelor‘s de- gree in music and educa- tion She married Dean Palm- er in Sunnyside on July 22, 1951‘ Mrs. Palmer was raised in Sunnyside and moved to Shelton in 1949. She took time off from teach- ing to raise her sons and returned to teaching She taught at Pioneer School for a couple of years before go» ing to work as a legal secre» tary for Carol Fuller of Full- er and Fulleri She worked there for 15 years until her retirement. Mrsi Palmer was a mem- ber of the Shelton United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Olympia Symphony for over 50 years, playing first chair violin and holding titles such as concert mistress and playing with numerous quartets, ensem- bles and church shows She was also a member of PEO, the Mason County Demo» cratic Women’s Club and the League of Women Vot- ers. She was an avid reader, enjoyed socializing and had traveled to Africa, Venezu- ela, Bermuda, England and Asia. Her greatest love was that of the arts and family. Mrsi Palmer was pre» ceded in death by husband Dean in 2004 and son Bri- an. She is survived by sons Randy Palmer of Ranch Cor- dova, California, Jeff Palmer and wife Lisa of Santa Rosa, California, and Chris Palm- er of Port Angeles; sister Virginia Bischoff of Benton City; brother Donald Dun» can and wife Verna of Sa- lem, Oregon; granddaugh- ter Courtney Boles of Santa Rosa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins . A memorial service will be held 011 Friday, March 6, at 3 p.111. at the Shelton United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to PEO Chapter B, 1001 East Mason Lake Drive East, Grapeview, 98546.
