Between Lighthouse Avenue and the bay, on an old narrow lane, lies
the graceful Sea Star, one of the guest houses built in the area by
the Methodist Church for their summer Chautauquas. In 1883, when
this house was constructed, small lots could be had for fifty dollars.
In 1956, the present owners, the Thomas Ryans, bought and restored the
Sea Star maintaining the original board and batten, single wall con-
struction, the simple 'A'T frame peaked roof, the white picket fence,
and the brave flourish of gingerbread above the porch posts.
