"Nagle, Michael W" RE: Roswell P. Bishop June 19, 2012 10:08 AM Hi- I will contact you--but you may or may not want the book. I'm actually writing a biography of Justus S. Stearns. Stearns was a lumber baron from Ludington, MI who later established a coal-company town (among other ventures) in Kentucky. Bishop lived in Ludington with Stearns and the two were partners in some lumbering activities on Indian Reservations in Wisconsin. Over the years, and particularly once Bishop was in Congress, he apparently helped to preserve Stearns' lumber contracts on the Indian reservations. So, thars the extent of the connection of my work and Bishop. So, while he is not the primary focus of my book, he does play an ancillary role at times. Thanks again, Mike -----Original Message---- From: claudia sawyer [majlto:claudiasawyer@me.corn] Sent: Tuesday, June 19, 2012 1:00 PM To: Nagle, Michael W Subject: Re: Roswell P. Thank you and good luck with your research and writing. Bishop Dear Professor Nagle, It appears that you have received as much information as we have on R, Bishop from Dennis Copland, City of Monterey Historian and Archivist. Please note that the PG Daily Review March 4, 1920 is not complete. There are at least 4-5 more paragraphs which were not included. We were unable to make a copy from the microfiche -- we have an ancient old beast that is on its last legs and is cranky about making copies. Mr. Bishop died March 4, 1920 and was buried March 5,1920 in the Pacific Grove Carmelo Cemetery. He is buried in Site 3, Lot 17, block 5, Section 5.
