If you missed Aquafest this
past weekend you missed out
on a weekend of beautiful
weather and family entertain-
ment.
If you got to spend any
amount of time at Aquafest
you most likely had a great
time.
The Food Court offered
some of the best festival food
around including corn on the
cob, smoked beef sandwiches,
Sports, parades, cars and family fun at Aquafest 2016
funnel cake, corn dogs, cotton
candy, shaved ice and almost
every type of cultural food you
can think of,
If the food wasn’t enough,
three parades helped families
enjoy the exciting scenery that
parades bring. Kids of all ages
walked the Children’s Parade
pulling wagons, banners and
wearing fun costumes.
The Boat Parade had water
balloon fights and decorated
boats as they drove around the
lake and waved at onlookers
from local docks.
People squeezed into Main
Street to enjoy fancy cars, local
sports teams and Lake Stevens
HighSchool’sband.Cheerleaders
performed as well as Taekwondo
masters and Lake Stevens’s own
Miss Aquafest Royalty drove by
waving from their Cinderella,
horse-drawn carriage.
Mayor John Spencer and his
wife Terri along with Grand
Marshals Tony and Karen
Morea waved at the crowd as
well as the Mayor’s Citizen of
the Year Anita Caffee.
Carnival rides and fun ven-
dors were also part of this an-
nual event.
Exciting competitions took
place throughout Aquafest
weekend at Human Foosball,
3-on-3 basketball, disc golf,
Stand Up Paddleboarding, the
Aquarun and Quadrathon.
The wakeboard and waterski-
ing competitions are always one
of the favorites at Aquafest.
The Aquafest Car Show had
over 168 cars, trucks and mo-
torcycles adorning the field
at North Lake Middle School
making one of the largest car
shows around.
Local bands, the Reptile Man
and a magician provided enter-
tainment throughout the week-
end and the fireworks show
on Saturday evening filled the
grass at North Cove Park.
If you missed out on this
year’s Aquafest or just can’t
wait until next year, mark your
calendar for July 28-30, 2017.
