Irene Lucille (Wood) Mainwaring
died of the effects of stroke
Wednesday, September 6, at Pu»
get Sound Health Care Center in
Olympia. She was 82.
She was born May 8, 1918, in
Seattle to Daniel and Anna Wood.
She was a member of the Rent—
on High School Class of 1936 and
was president of the school’s
Girls’ Club in 1935 and 1936, She
was queen of the Associated
South End Improvement Clubs,
South Seattle, in 1936‘ She was
also active in school plays and
was class Valedictorian.
She married Ray Mainwaring
on March 6, 1937 in Burien. She
attended classes with her hus-
band at Biola University in Los
Angeles, California, from 1945 to
1949, They lived at Kennedy
Creek off and on for a total of 29
years.
Mrs, Mainwaring was a home
maker and minister’s wife at the
First Baptist Church in Wood-
land, California, from 1950 to
1952 and Grace Baptist Church
in Seattle from 1953 to 1955; and
served as a missionary in Kalisof,
Alaska, from 1957 to 1966, in
Clear, Alaska, from 1967 to 1968;
and in Auke Bay, Alaska, from
1970 to 1975.

Her hobbies included garden- .
ing, sewing, quilting, painting
and cake decorating. She chroni—
cled the history of her family for
her grandchildren. She was pre-
ceded in death by two brothers
and one sister.
Survivors include her husband,
Ray Mainwaring of Olympia;
daughters Janice Swanson of
Oakland, California, Karin New-
comb of Sacramento, California,
and Susan Mainwaring of
Bothell; and son Paul Mainware
ing of Bothell.
Other survivors are grand-
daughters Karen Swanson of San-
ta Monica, California, Elizabeth
Swanson of Santa Monica, Cali-
fornia, Heather Goodman of Sac,
ramento, California, Shanna
O’Sullivau of Woodland, Califor»
nia, and Janel Humke of Bothell;
and grandsons Justin Humke and
Timothy Mainwaring, both of
Bothell.
A memorial service will be held
at 1 p.m. Saturday, September
30, at Tumwater Evangelical Free
Church.
Inurnment will be at Shelton
Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may he
