Michael Calabrese
Michael James Calabrese, a
Shelton resident for the past six
years, died of natural causes Fri-
day, October 20, at his home. He
was 86.
He was born July 4, 1914, in
Brooklyn, New York, to Nunzio
and Angela (Portia) Calabresei
He married Elaine Lanette Car
labrese on August 8, 1936. She
preceded him in death in 1995.
Mr. Calabrese served in the
US, Navy from 1942 to 1945.
He worked as sales manager
for American Manufacturing,
which produces industrial equip-
ment.
He was a member of the Amer-
ican Legion and the Benevolent
and Protective Order of Elks.
He loved music, played jazz
guitar and enjoyed fixing things
such as bicycles and sewing ma-
chines, He repaired bicycles and
gave them to children in his
neighborhood who didn’t have
bikes.
He was preceded in death by a
brother, Matt Calabrese, in 1980.
Survivors include his sons,
Michael Calabrese of Auburn,
Jim Calabrese of Sumner, John
Calabrese of Shelton and Perry
Calabrese of LaCenter; a brother,
Perry Calabrese of Baldwin, New
York, sisters Marie Terilli of
Mount Kisco. New York, Francis
Jones of Poughkeepsie, New
York, Anne Schaldoris of Queens,
New York, and Jennie Gillilland
of Riverdale, New York; and nine
grandchildren, 11 greatgrand
children and numerous nieces
and nephews.
A graveside service was held
Wednesday, October 25, at Shel—
ton Memorial Park.
